Paying attention to the social context and demands of the stakeholders in policy-making process is one of the most important conditions for the realization of the policy-makers' goals for strengthening the family institution against social changes. Accordingly, this article aims to study and examine the degree of conformity of family policies in various axes with the demands and expectations of the family in this field. The research method is discourse analysis based on Michel Foucault’s paleontological approach. The statistical population of the research includes the law on providing for women and orphan children (approved, 1992), the law on facilitating marriage for youth (approved, 1384), the law on supporting family (approved, 2012) and the law on supporting family institution and young population (approved, 2021). According to the policy propositions extracted from the laws, the policy discourse of the government in the field of family is analyzed and formulated under the title "strengthening and consolidating family institution and its main functions based on the traditional model of the family". Also, the results obtained from the comparison of the government's policy discourse in the field of family with the society's reality indicate that the government's policies in the domain of reducing the age of marriage and increasing childbearing are largely in line with the demands and expectations of the society in this field. However, in the areas of family consolidation and support of the traditional family model, the society follows a different path from the policy maker's aim. Therefore, it is necessary to adjust and modify the family policies in this domain according to the realities of the society.
